Colombia would like to enhance and make up for gaps when it comes to access to services throughout Latin America. Last week a meeting was held in Lima on palliative care. There is still much to be done when it comes to prescriptions. Trainings and literature are often insufficient. Much thought is being given on developing centres where medicines are available to patients around the clock to alleviate pain. They are also thinking about meetings with all regions to focus on substances that countries need. There is also thought being given towards doing this in a systematic way.
Through its district office in Bogota is conducting a pilot project with different health providers to raise awareness on different levels of government on what needs to be done. Colombia has improved in this regard, which has been acknowledged by the WHO.
