Regarding failure of physicians to deal with problematic drug use. There is a lack of drug and alcohol awareness geared towards physicians but this is also a structural issue. GPs are dealing with patients with different serious health issues. This can lead to a dismissal of patients with drug and alcohol problems. Education can increase awareness but it should be combined with specialised addiction services where the patient is not competing with other health conditions
