Illicit drug trafficking is a universal issue and we need an integrated approach. We need to tackle all the fronts of drug problems in a unilateral manner. Argentina is keen to stress the need of shared responsibility between producer, transit and consumption countries.
We are talking about revitalising the joint principles of shared responsibility and for us, international cooperation is the tool that is essential in implementing this. We should establish an international system with either current or improved methodology and policies in law enforcement as well as in helping addicts. The public health and social elements of drug use also needs to be addressed and we shouldn’t just focus on law enforcement.
