VNGOC recalled the declaration of the Beyond 2008 process and detailed how some of the recommendations had been taken up – including a better focus on drug dependence treatment.

Welcomed the appointment of the new goodwill ambassador in this regard.

While welcoming the improving NGO engagement at CND, it is but one week. Therefore VNGOC happy to say that engagement is improving also at national level.

Urged all governments to work closely with NGOs on a regular basis if we are to achieve progress towards the goals set in the 2009 political declaration. We look forward to the debates on resolution L.6 relating to NGO participation.
