High Level Segment – Philippines Statement

The Philippines welcomes progress made since 2009. There are still gaps. The Philippines dangerous drugs board continues to monitor the drug problem. In 2013 over 800 kg of amphetamines were destroyed. Many cannabis plantations were destroyed. The Philippines were recognised for a education programme by the Colombo Plan. Looking to increase data. A 2012 household survey showed that drug use had declined in 10-16 year olds.  Drug couriers have been a problem, Philippines urge other countries to respect human rights when it comes to prosecuting them.
