Group reiterates commitment to the Political Declaration and Action Plan adopted at the High Level Segment of CND in 2009.

‘Deeply concerned’ with the increase in the cultivation and consumption of cannabis.

Special attention needed to address the needs of women, children and youth.

Global financial crisis has undermined progress on development and towards meeting the MDGs.

Pasts of Africa no longer just part of trafficking routes, but also areas of increased drug cultivation and consumption. ‘Deeply concerned’ at increase of drug trafficking through the region.

Groups calls for full implementation of the provisions of the 1988 drug convention, with specific attention to cannabis.

Calls attention to the African Union Plan of Action on drugs.

Need to improve reporting, collection and analysis of data.
