Peru fully supports the shared responsibility of the world drug problem. We see demand and supply as equally important and we shouldn’t only focus on one part of the problem. However, we have achieved some notable successes in drug eradication and I would like to express thanks to the UNODC and the commitment of other nations in cooperating with us. Nevertheless, greater efforts are required by the international community and a decrease in participation would be terrible for the current successes that have been made.
Peru would also like to see a report into the levels of cooperation between countries to see which areas need strengthening, as well as greater cooperation between countries with relation to money laundering. Peru has made a training centre in this field to tackle asset laundering and we welcome other nations to join us in doing this.
