CND day 3 – Plenary, demand reduction and related measures: Dominican Republic

Given our geo-strategic location in the Caribbean. We have seen rising levels of use and crime as we are used as a transit country. We have created a drug observatory body to research and document all drug information to help reduce demand in our country. The government has used various means to try to reduce drug use. We have various promotional activities targeted at young peers to educate other youths.
We have bombed trafficking airstrips especially in the east of the country. We have acquired 8 new planes to control our airspace. Trafficking at sea has made our coast more difficult to police.
We have set up a prison reform and demand reduction body to collect data on these measures. With regards to money laundering, we have achieved some successes and we continue to make great efforts. We need more economic resources and need the support of the international community.
