Ignacio Baylina Ruíz, cochair of the standing open-ended intergovernmental Working Group on improving the governance and financial situation of the UNODC (FinGov)

The working group held 1 formal meeting and three informal in 2013 and another one this year. Many delegations attended these meetings. Thanks members, thanks secretariat. The work of FinGov covered by resolution 56/11 of CND, requires clear programme to ensure FinGov works well. Want an assessment culture of all programmes, promotion of integrated programme approach to help strengthen the UNODC’s financial position.

THe budget for 2014/15 was reviewed last year and the formal meeting in Feb. Yury Fedatov attended this meeting. Looking at measures to improve gender balance and improve work/life balance of UNODC staff. Ask members to review documents and provide comments. These will be taken into account at a meeting in June. Have already received comments about sustainablity of field officers, and striking a balance between work of UNODC on drug control and crime.
