Thanks the chair for their charing of HLS. Japan recommends the UNODC and their activities in regional and thematic programmes, especially in South East Asia and West Africa. Japan gives high priority to drug problem so hope it can continue to work with UNODC.
In regards to full cost recovery model: it will need to be reviewed to ensure that it is working. Japan has seen some delays in the creation of funding models due to the new full cost recovery model and inconsistencies in its application.
Some regional anc countries offices are expensive. These will make UNODC projects less attractive and could lead to a loss of sponsors and funding. Japan would appreciate efforts in efficiency and reducing management costs.
UNODC has done tremendous work and Japan will continue to support its work and want to see more done on the financial situation of the office.
